How does it work?
Each member accrues Activity Points, based on their participation in the club. Their accrued points will determine their priority for a desired draw time.
Registration for draw times is performed in rounds:
- Renewal Round - join a waitlist specifying your preferences among all available draw times. When the round closes, priority will be given to those with the most points, and in the event of a tie, to those who were waitlisted first. You will receive an email either granting you a spot for one of your requested draw times and requesting payment, or telling you your registration was canceled because all spots are full.
- Public Round - If there are spots left, we will release them to friends and family for a short period, then the public.
Once assigned a spot, you will have a limited amount of time (a couple of days) to do so before your slot is lost. Please take care to respond promptly.
Point Accrual
Your total activity points are a combination of League Points (from signing up for and participating in draw times), and Volunteer Points (through volunteer work with the club). Existing members predating this system received a starting score based on their past activity (see below).
Volunteering
Members are expected to complete 3 Volunteer Points as part of their membership if they have been with the club for over one year.
Volunteer Point award values are as follows:

Points for other volunteer activity may be awarded at the board’s discretion.

Frequently Asked Questions
When are points accrued?
Generally, points will be accrued at the end of the event/activity in which they were earned (for example, on the last day of a draw period). A best effort will be made to reflect everyone’s latest point count on the website when an event registration opens.
What if someone signs up for a league and doesn’t show up - do they still get the points?
Having to miss a league night occasionally is reasonable and expected (try to get a sub!), but if you miss almost every night in a league, you won’t get the points. The same goes for volunteering, board participation, etc.
Do points expire if I take a year off?
Points expire 3 years after they are earned. One of the benefits of this system is that long-standing members who want to take a break can do so without paying too heavily for it in the following year. But if you take multiple years off, active members will get priority.
Can I get extra points?
Volunteering for events or performing additional club duties (equipment construction, legal services, chairing a committee, etc.), may earn additional points. The board can award points for service at its discretion.
Can I buy points? Can I give/lend them to someone else?
No. No.
What if two people with the same number of points are vying for the last spot in a draw time?
Whoever registered for the spot first will get preference. In the rare case where this doesn’t produce a clear result, it will ultimately be at the Secretary’s discretion.
What if I think my point count is incorrect?
Data will be made available to you so you can see where your point count came from; if you disagree, you can contact the board to have a correction considered and made. But in general, once registration has started, we won’t count changes to the point count toward registering in that event. If you think your score is incorrect, inform the board as soon as possible.
Are you computing the points by hand?
No. We’ve developed software to do it, based on exports from the website. The technically inclined are welcome to examine the code here.
Does the number of points I have affect my membership in terms of voting/governance?
No, they are unrelated.
Will we be using this for registration in ALL events?
Probably just events where we expect contention for space. First-come, first-served will continue to be used for less popular events.
