Membership Information

To support the continued growth of the North End Curling Club (NECC), the Board of Directors is introducing a clarified annual membership structure. In the past, benefits have been informally tied to league participation, but this has been both hard to follow and tricky to implement. With this new structure, we strive to resolve these challenges and pave the way for growth.

At a glance, this membership structure:

  • Clarifies the length of membership to be one year with clear start and end dates
  • Separates off-ice member benefits (Slack, Social Events, etc.) from league participation, allowing our community to become larger and more inclusive
  • Emphasizes that we are now a year-round club, inviting greater engagement from our membership through volunteering and social events, as well as on-ice activities

FAQ

What is my primary club?

Your primary club is a club that pays your membership dues to GNCC, another regional governing body, and/or USA Curling. Historically, North End has purchased GNCC memberships for all league members; we will now do this for all Resident Membership holders only.

Will membership guarantee me a league spot?

No. League admittance will continue to be based on the activity points system, and curlers with more points will have preference.

What membership do I need to curl as a North Ender at bonspiels?

A team must have 2 or more Resident Members to register as a North End Team at bonspiels. Exception: bonspiels where entry is conditioned on winning a playdown.

What about subbing/social membership?

Subbing will continue to be a separate purchase per session, similar to the old social membership, but under a different name (Sub Pass). An annual membership will be required to purchase a Sub Pass. League members will continue to have subbing privileges without an additional Sub Pass purchase.

Why did you price it that way?

Membership prices are based on membership dues and insurance costs for USA Curling and GNCC, and other fixed costs to operate. Leagues are currently priced at-cost. Having a fixed membership cost ensures we can cover known expenses regardless of league sign-ups, and helps us budget for social events, education clinics, and invest in dedicated ice.
